quote:Lowes was running a close out price of $299.00 on last year's model that came with two 2amp batteries. This one that I purchased, however, was $599.00 and comes with a single 6 amp battery. Much more powerful and will last a long time.
I have been looking at getting the Kobalt 80V for a while now. just struggling with that price tag difference between that and a gas powered.
Which brand did you get?
However, the store was out of the $299 version and not expected to get any more. I talked to the counter staff, and the assistant manager walked with me to the aisle, scanned it as said, "The best I can do is $399.00. Will that work?"
Hell to the yeah! So my son, who will be doing my yard for me, was pleased with my negotiating prowess.

Anyway, used it once. Charged the battery full before using it and the instructions said that the first charge may take up to 24 hours to fully charge but only about 30 minutes after that each time. It took about twelve hours.
Build quality seems solid. Has an easy to use bagger, or an easy to use (ad hoc or permanent) side discharge chute. The controls for the power drive assist are from thumb paddles, so very easy to use. It will rev up as it meets resistance to add additional power and then throttle down when you don't need it.

Thanks for the info on the Kobalt 80V. I kept looking at them at the Lowe's near me expecting a price drop on the 2018 model. Then the next time I was in the store the only model was the 2019.
I have the 2018 model 80V weed eater that I really like. I assume the batteries are still interchangeable?
