Again, innocent people are always advised not to talk until there is a plan of attack. Prosecuters, much like defense attorney's, are often less concerned with justice, as they are with proving that they are right, and the other side is wrong. So they can twist anything you say that isn't carefully worded.

This should be common knowledge, regardless of what facts come out. It's not uncommon in the least for lawyers to tell their clients to zip it.
