How fast is this Kid?
Posted on 3/5/19 at 2:58 pm to Dellybelly82
At 6'3" and lanky he ran a 4.56 lasered recently.
That is a GREAT time for a QB. Russell Wilson ran a 4.55, Cam Newton ran a 4.59, etc.

He doesn’t impress me but that may be because he plays on a bad team. Both Max Johnson and the King kid are much more polished qbs right now. Finley has impressive size and arm strength however that could make him a high draft pick one day. For once it looks like LSU is sitting pretty with its future at qb. It’s been a long time coming.

You bash LSU for offering Lindsey Scott but the fact is if he were 2 inches taller he would have been a 5* recruit that all the power 5 schools would have been trying to get. Watch his tape, not only is he a true dual threat who can run but he has a huge arm with accuracy plus he’s a 4.0 student who could have gone to the Ivy leagues. I will not be one bit shocked if he pushes Kelly Bryant for the starter position at Missouri this year.

Dude, no.
A 5 star recruit that was Lindsey Scott's height just won the fricking Heisman. He's not that good.

Ummm, do you even realize Scott was 4th string at Mizzou this past season? Scott was behind a redshirt freshman and sophomore:
3 QBs on depth chart, Scott not listed
He ran thew scout team. No different than his time here.
On top of that, Mizzou took not jsut Kelly Bryant, but Shawn Robinson in the transfer market this offseason:
Shawn Robinson to Mizzou
Obviously, they have zero faith in Scott being any good. He was 4th string last season and now they took not 1 but 2 transfers this offseason.

Scott was not SEC caliber and he's still not. Just look at his offer sheet. Why LSU went after him with all the other talent ahead of him is beyond me.
That's the reason lsu has had QB trouble for the last 6 to 7 years. Going after sub par players that don't work out. It makes no sense. Same thing with Myles just look at his offer sheet. It's not lsu caliber.

Myles Brennan was the 6th ranked “Pro style” QB in his class per 247, and #4 in the Composite.
He was Top 10 overall.
That’s not LSU caliber?

His offer sheet is not "top" SEC caliber. I don't group LSU in with ole miss and Kentucky. We are better than that. I look if he was offered by top tier schools and he was not.
Top tier coaches no how to evaluate talent and they didn't offer. That should tell you all you need to know. Also the fact he's rode the pine with LSUs abysmal QB play. We had to get a transfer because he hasn't panned out.

Finley has been offered by bama and every other top schools. They see something in him. They know he can be great. I'll trust Sabans opinion.

Jake Fromm is the only top 50 QB in that class that has made an impact in the SEC, and he had most of the same offeres

Myles was a guy they knew had the abilities and the brain to play QB at a high level in the SEC, but desperately needed 25+ lbs of good weight.
LSU was willing to sign and try to develop him because we also signed Lowell Narcisse, who had Auburn offers and many others.
I think Myles was a good take and Lowell was not if we look back. He had torn up knees and is wildly inaccurate as a passer.
ETA:
And Mike Gundy wanted Myles Brennan badly. And that dude knows QBs.

with Finley, all of the concern is his lack of accuracy when the bullets are flying around him

He needs coaching at the collegiate level. He's completely raw right now, like Shaq was in the movie blue chips. He needs to stay committed and fulfill his destiny at LSU.

Chill babe. He wasn’t 2 inches taller and that’s why he’s not at LSU anymore.

I always say... exactly what is "LSU caliber". Its not a place where QBs develop. Face it, avg QB play is LSUs hallmark. And sub 6'0 QBs are viewed with skepticism nationally. Coaches that will truly take a chance on a sub 6'0 guy, are more rare than shorter QBs who can play. It takes the right kind of coach to take that chance.
With the ball in his hands, all Scott has done is win. Hes been responsible for to many wins for me to question his abilities.
LSU didnt fail in its recruitment of Scott (nor most of its QBS). LSU has failed to bring in a true QB developer, with an offensive system that designed to highlight QB talents. Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray as LSU QBs, would not lead to Heisman careers. They both found a system that was QB centric, and it paid off. They both transferred to schools that bought in. LSU fans have forgotten what elite QB is like because of the lack of top offensive minds.

Please stop with this. The top QBs in the country have come from Oklahoma. The best NFL MVP this year played college ball at Texas Tech. The national championship was won by Trevor Lawrence (Clemson). I've been saying for years, "SEC caliber" at QB doesnt mean squat.

And Russell Sheppard.

Comparing these two is ludicrous.
That was kind of the point. This guy is telling me that King is better than Finley and the basis of his argument is that he plays in a tougher division than Finley.
quote:
King just climbed like 300 spots in the rankings because of how good he has looked. He's a 6'3" kid with a good arm and top speed/athleticism for a QB. He's a straight up winner at the top level of high school football and it doesn't hurt he's a football coach's son.
This kid checks every damn box.
I am not saying he doesn't or does.

Because his team is shite, they cant block or catch. I watched a handful of Ponch games last season and it was pathetic what he had to work with.
Both Johnson and Finley are on some really terrible teams and are pretty much forced to do it all.
Finley is throwing pretty well right now, so I dont buy the narrative he's inaccurate because he's inaccurate. Seems like he CAN put the ball on the money, but it's tough to do so when you have receivers that cant catch/get open or an OL that cant block.
