Answer honestly. If a Democrat said "we're gonna hit 3%" at their campaign rallies, and then hit 2.9% in their 2nd year, would the John Harwoods of the world be using language like "crashed into reality"?

No. But Trump never said "hit 3%". He claimed "4, 5, 6 percent". And I believe the success of the tax cuts depended on hitting 4% minimum in 2018.

The irony is that if Trump was only a little less aggressive on the tariffs then we would have easily hit 3%. I think damping down this year will be good in the long run as overjuicing this year would have left things flat going forward, it wasn't by intention.

Harwood used the 3% figure, then mocked Trump for only getting the 2.9% in his 2nd year. If you're saying Harwood should have cited 4, 5, or 6% then I take your point.

But in a general sense, I don't mind guys like Harwood being the leftist version of Hannity. Opinion-based guys. But here's a guy being linked as hard news, being allowed to moderate debates and interview candiates... how do you justify that? Same with Martha Raddatz who moderated general election debates, then cried on election night when Trump won. How do you say "that's ok"?
