Wish we had a non-partisan government.
This here shows the scope of your ignorance.
The constitution of our United States was framed in such a way that it best allowed equal freedoms to every individual with a balance of governmental infrastructure that can intervene when the need is strong enough. We’re so far away from these original principles that the government is now used to force individual’s opinions on others. If no one is there to fight for or against these policies we will find ourselves no longer individuals but only pieces of a collective where our wills no longer matter.
Not everyone believes in the philosophies of single payer healthcare (limited choice/competition is rarely a good thing), “free” college, high taxes to pay for other people’s problems they created on their own, etc. So there will always be a partisan nature to government because people aren’t all the same which why is we should be allowed to act as individuals except for the few exceptions where the greater good is truly a greater good.

One relatively-powerful person's freedom to keep the fruits of their enterprise...guarantees the (relative) poverty of less-powerful (for various reasons from Genetic advantage, to immoral/irresponsible choice) individuals.
Society has long endured and prospered in smaller units; Units that limited/punished immorality/irresponsibility, and rewarded positive societal contributions with collective mercy (subsidization, in many forms).
Today's contentious debate re the criteria for Collective Subsidization - given high tech communication, and the absolute 'Unit' - has now become based on Absolute Moral Principle. Many believe that deprivation/desperation drives 'immoral' choices, and that "priviledge" (Life's Lottery), is an affront to higher moral principle. An affront that should be addressed via Collective (Government) moral action. Therein...Socialism.
IMHO, and given the high tech potential in Humanity's near future wherein the basics of life will likely become "ubiquitous" (term from the Book "Abundance")...it behooves Humanity to determine basic QUALIFIERS for imagined Collective Subsidization. Outside of qualifying practical and moral behaviors for Subsidization, society would sew the seeds of their own demise.
More talk. Ignorance. Iceberg. Titanic. Momentum.
