Left my Luminox watch with a local jeweler to be repaired bc it kept losing time back on Jan 5th. They tell me they have to send it to the manufacturer for repair. Got a call back about it finally and they wanted the green light from me to authorize the the repair for 185 bucks. Seems s little steep to repair a 4 year old watch. May tell them to keep the damn thing. What sayeth the OT? it holds no sentimental value and was a gift from an ex.

Yeah unless sentimental hard to pay over half for fix.
Would you replace it with? That'll be the call to make. Prefer spending it on a replacement you like more.
Get it back though. Sell it on ebay as broken to see if anyone is willing to pay it. Or send it into the mfg yourself to save on the up mark.

Yeah its considered a "navy seal" watch. It was a gift. 185 is around my cap I'd spend on a new watch. May just chalk that thing up to the game.

Id see if they will offer a wholesale discount on a replacement on a new. The CS rep should have offered in the first place based on the cost of the repair and the product itself

I have a couple Eco Drives that are kinda dressy watches . This was just sort of an outdoor/work watch. (I have a pretty physical job). Been without it almost two months and haven't really missed it. That "lifetime" warranty was a crock of shite

Just get a Suunto and call it a day. I still have mine that I wore on multiple deployments. Only thing I have had to do was change the battery.

Saltzman watches in Rhode Island is probably who they’re sending to if you want to go direct. Did it like 6 years ago, took 3 weeks if I remember right.

Never hurts to ask. If they say no, I'd probably ditch it. Not sure how much you would get for a broken luminox on eBay.
ETA: I bet someone local could do it for pretty cheap. Not a jeweler, but a legit horologist.

FIL had a luminox about 4-5 years old. It quit working. Same thing was told by a reputable watch repair place that it would be like 190 to fix it because the movement is "proprietary" and they have to use legit Luminox parts or something like that. He was ticked. Luminox isn't at all what they used to be.
