Good stuff. I ran a couple bars in Dallas where scenes from episodes were taped or the outside/parking lots.

Everything completely staged. Still epic when unassuming people would see the cameras. Made for some great memories.

I watched it from the start and think that most of the Tommy Grand stuff was real. There was a murder during filming where a wife ran over her doctor husband in her Mercedes. It made the news but no episode came out. The show was sued and Tommy Grand left. Towards the end of Grand's stint Cheaters started having blurred out faces. It was harder to get people to sign releases.

When Greco took the helm, it was at least 50% staged. It was easy to spot the difference between the real worst of Walmart people with mild reactions and the more attractive looking couples with bad acting, crazy stories and really over the top reactions. By the time Greco left it was all staged.

After the first couple seasons it was hard to get real people who wanted to put themselves on TV in that kind of light. The free PI work was not worth the embarrassment.
