because, as a society, we understand that being helpful and empathetic leads to a healthier and safer community? no need to add sky gods and hells to it.
empathy even happens in nature, particularly in whales. understanding and teaching personal responsibility through our own empathetic instinct would be much healthier than force feeding us the incomprehensible desires of deities to direct our values.

If you’re only helping people or doing good things because you think it’ll get you a token to heaven, then you either completely missed the point of the lessons that most religions try to teach or even worse you’re simply a narcissist who only helps others for your own personal game which also goes against the good book
