I'd swap out that old hickory skinner for a Dexter Russell if I were buying a new one. The one I have has some sentimental value to it, it's hard to beat a high carbon steel blade for skinning, but a polypropylene handle is definitely better than wood.

Thanks for all the Rec’s I’m looking at them all. I wish I could shoot a few things and test a few out
