My god, the President could build the Wall with the thick headedness on this board.
I never said Simmons knows the Pelicans inside and out. But he does know the NBA better than most out there.
His whole “shtick” is commentating from a lifelong fan of the NBA. He’s propelled into far greater things. His Kevin Durant interviews, as one example, are incredible.
The prologue of meeting and interviewing Isiah Thomas-after years of bashing him and other shitty GMs across the league, was great writing.
His trade value article this year-spot on. What do teams want more than anything in the era of 1+1 contracts, buddies from AAU planning team ups, & heavy player movement? Young players on rookie deals. 7 years worth of player control, basically.
The guy has an eye for where the league is headed, what teams are moving in the right direction, which star players most guys want to play with, who can play “Finals” level basketball, & when guys make the leap.
If you get beyond the gimmick of “Boston Sports Guy” the dude knows his NBA.

He legit doesn't know much about the NBA anymore outside of the Celtics, Clippers, star players, or whatever memes his 35 year old writers tweet about. His only things worth listening to were when Zach Lowe would go on, if he could shut up long enough.
This is all he does. Just shitty guessing based off of social media and who's eating dinner together. None of it is real journalism. He is not in the know.
