How was Black Panther controversial?

Two movies that stick out, as far as controversy at the time of their release , was The Last Temptation of Christ and The Crying Game.

Never saw either but I remember them being controversial in the news and court of public opinion. That's before social media.

Actually the controversial movies seem to be controversial because of Christian organizations making a fuss over nothing.
