I use royal oak all the time. I do end up with some rocks but no big deal. I’ll save larger chunks out the bag as I use it because it does have a lot of small in it. I’ll use the bigger chunks when I build for a low and slow cook. Otherwise I just dump it in and use fire to light the fire!
