Subnautica - Below Zero

I started playing Subnautica years ago during early access. As updates came, I continued through the progression and finally beat it after full release.
I was just wondering about the new DLC Below Zero. Has anyone given it a try yet?

I need to get back into this game. Neebs Gaming did a series on it and it looks amazing, but it got lost in the millions of other games I have on my backlog.
I will admit that I had to turn off hunger and thirst because as cool as the survival concept is, I can only keep up with so much, and I was tired of constantly catching fish for food and water.

I've played it all the way through 3 times with lots and lots and lots of base building. As much as I love the game, I really can't get too excited about the DLC.

Boo! Shame....DING....Shame....DING....Shame....DING.
It takes almost no effort to get food and water. Well, some effort. You need to find the alien containment or you need to find the outdoor grow bed which is easy to finds. Food and water are a non issue once you have the growbed.

That gets really easy as you progress and build more base. You can create aquariums inside your base for food and the desalinization machine makes fresh water.
Also, like the poster above said, you can make growbeds inside and outside your base, depending on what you're growing.
Really fun game.

The growbed is better than the alien containment. Although the aquarium looks cooler.
Last play through, I had a 25 story aquarium from the bottom of the red grass area to 1 story above the water.
That's a lot of glass.

This frozen underwater adventure is a work in progress. As we did with Subnautica, we are building Below Zero out in the open. With your help, we will craft a worthy follow up to the original game.
Below Zero is full of bugs, runs poorly, and includes only a small portion of our planned features. It's also a game we're excited about. If you join us, we think you might enjoy this journey through Early Access.

Yeah, aquariums do look cool. Mine is 6 stories and I have 1 of every species.
Salted fish is a great food to have on hand. I kept a huge stock of everything in my sub.

You will never have to pay for updates, so you'll essentially get the full release game for that $20.

so its not DLC, its an entire new game?

This is super early access and it probably isn't remotely worth it at this time. Saw a video last night that said there was about an hour of story at this point. Not sure of the size of the location so not sure how much exploaration is available. I bought subnautica 2 years before release and had a blast but on first glance this looks like it it very early in development.
I still might get it just to support the folks for putting out a great game in the original.
