Even “actual” attendance is inflated. They scan in a ton of unused tickets to look “attended”

Wouldn't surprise me at all.
Many, many years ago, I attended a game during the Trent years: Southern at LSU. It was on a Monday night and the Saints were playing the Falcons on MNF.
There were at most 75 people in attendance. No kidding, 75. Nobody showed up. Not that anyone missed anything. The game was terrible, Southern was the worst team I've ever seen LSU play, and we only beat them by 14.
The next day, the Advocate said the attendance was 7400.
