it was a branch of the armed forces set up by President Trump, much to the public's confusion.
Who's confused other than the media? President Trump was quite clear as to the intent and purpose of the new government entity. Some of our most strategic and valuable assets are orbiting the earth. Is it absurd or confusing to mandate an agency to be responsible for protecting those assets?
I hope it's humorous and pokes fun at government in general. At this point we either have to learn to laugh at the thousand-headed monster that is the federal government or cross the Potomac at dawn and attack.

It exists to be political.
Im not sure what is so hilarious about the idea that countries would attempt to spy and or create weapons in space. People act like the idea of a Space Force is to fight aliens.
There's nothing inherently hilarious about working at a paper company in a generic office park, and yet here we are.
I get why you'd think this exists to be political because it's Hollywood and a show about something that Trump announced, but to me, this could go a thousand different ways. Could be poking fun at the government as a whole set where Michael Scott is given a blank check to do whatever, could be poking fun at the fact that just the idea of a "Space Force" sounds ridiculous, regardless of whose idea it was. Could just be a port of The Office but in space, and we could see a jello-encrusted stapler floating through the space station; could be them fighting aliens. Who the heck knows, but I'm in.

Steve Carell is an actor. If the lines written are politically outspoken then he will be
Not talking about his character in the movie, I don't give a shite if a movie or a show doesn't align with my politics. I just asked because I don't think I've ever heard Carrell talk politics

I would love for this show to take the Ron Swanson approach to government.

Given that the P&R writers were shocked people would relate to Ron as a character -let alone that he would become a libertarian icon and far and away the most beloved character on the show- so much so that they actively changed his character to make him less appealing, I'm going to assume that's not the direction this will go.
