hey wasted a max of two seconds by running a play instead of spiking. They had the play called on the previous play.

To call out the play for all players to hear, and get everybody in the right position and hope no penalties? 2 seconds? I don’t think so.

The play was blown dead at :37 and snapped off at :20, taking a whole 17 seconds to run the next play.

Then you look at the saints game where before the half, Brees completed a pass to Ted Ginn Jr for 15 yds(Colts play was 11 yards). The play was blown dead at :21 and Brees clocked it at :11 so taking 10 seconds to spike. The two scenarios was a difference of 7 seconds. Ask any coach running 2 minute offense how big is 7 seconds and they will tell you. Heck, I've been coaches arguing with the refs for 2 seconds.
