Religion is not what we're talking about. We're talking about God. And no one is saying God is pulling for, and making Clemson win. Giving thanks to God for your success is just that. Thanking Him for the opportunity and the ability to be successful.

Here's a little shocker. Originally he only wanted Jewish people. God has shown a propensity to help those who follows him. He have done it with Moses, Noah, the supreme being literally let the world drown and chose only to warn a selected few. The thing with Lot's and his wife. The miracles that the Templars pulled off during the crusades against over whelming numbers. 500> 30000 is ridiculous.
Why would you help someone that is only playing you lip service version those that actually believe in you 100%?

The idea isn’t that God helped them win, as much as it’s thanking God for the traits given to them that result in skill, determination and knowledge to excel at something. Thanking him for giving you the tools.
But you can twist all your like for comedic purposes.
