it's around 5. there is lodging inside the park, grand canyon lodge. there's a visitor center there, hiking trails, and a restaurant, i believe. it wouldn't be bad for a one night deal.
i honestly thought it was closer than that, but the area kind of runs together when you aren't out there every day anymore.

Yeah, all the park hotels are booked already the week we'll be there. Oh well. We'll do the drive from the east gate down to the South Rim.
