It shouldn’t be bad.
Plus....you can go at your own pace and stay as long as you like at the South Rim since it’s only a 2 hour drive back.
Imagine staying to see the sunset over the GC? I’ve never done it....bet it’s amazing.

I was out there today...was beautiful weather with snow still on the rim...
I was in and out in 2 hours, I hiked down just a bit and watched both movies in the center...
Spleen, if the kids are young, you might not want to take the long hike from the south rim...it gets hot down a ways and you'd need to pack water
