I don't know what you mean "light medical uses" but I know for me edibles and concentrated oils have helped me tremendously with chemo side effects. It is much better than the prescriptions I was given to help combat nausea,pain,lack of appetite and general fatigue.
While I have seen first hand the benefits of cannabis oils, I also have no problem with cannabis being legal in all forms and for medical and recreational use.
Our state can't even get the extremely limited medical cannabis program running right. I read today that they can't find an acceptable lab to test the cannabis grown by LSU and Southern. Two years after it was made legal the state still can't get their shite together. I guess the right people haven't received the proper kickbacks from the dispensaries to make the process work as outlined in the law.

actually, that was "legit"...autocorrected to "light"
yours is the only first-hand evidence I have ever heard as to the medicinal benefits...since you experienced it yourself and compared versus existing meds, I would consider that to be a legitimate medical use
