I don’t know why people think EVERY year in the 80’s and 90’s were terrible. The 80’s saw two SEC Championships and the mid to late 90’s LSU was better than just about everyone in the SEC not named Florida or Tennessee.

84-88 was actually THE most wins in any five years in program history. So yeah Arnsparger was a winner and 87 was NC quality. It was also when I was in college so I remember it vividly.

97 I was a Buffs season ticket holder and they ended up to be a Rick New Weasel shite show. I came home for at least one LSU game that year and I remember thinking how weird it was that LSU was better than the Buffs . That’s how weird the 90s were.

Only idiots think this, the 80's were a very good decade, for the most part. The bad years were 89-94.

Agree. It cracks me up to see posters acting like we just became nationally competitive in 2003.

The 80s were very good as you said. The mid to late 90s as well.

The notion that we should be ecstatic to just win 9 games is ignorance

Three of the 10 years in the ‘90s, LSU had a winning record. No West titles in those three years (Arkansas in ‘95, Alabama in ‘96, Auburn in ‘97). And Alabama shut out LSU in Tiger Stadium in ‘96 in a game that decided the West title.

Those three years were good years, and I think they set a decent foundation for Saban. Those were three fun and exciting years. But 70 percent of the decade LSU finished with a losing record. That’s why people (rightfully) think the ‘90s as a whole sucked for LSU.
