But Two & a Half Men, Big Bang, Modern Family... they did have early seasons where they hit their stride and were enjoyable.

First couple seasons of Two & a Half Men were ok, but were always just low-hanging sex and gross-out humor. It got old fast.

Modern Family is still pretty good in my opinion, and is clearly in a class above the other shows you listed.

Big Bang is a weird show for me. Most shows start out with relatable, human characters, that slowly over time develop into caricatures of their most exaggerated traits. Big Bang kinda did the opposite. The characters started out as punchlines that didn't feel like real people, only to become more human and relatable over time. I feel like it's gotten stale the last couple years, but the quality at the end is still better than it was at the beginning. Never was a big fan, but good for harmless, light chuckles. I doubt I'll miss it or get nostalgic about it in reruns. It was this generation's "Friends". Low-hanging humor, bad laugh track, bland everything, inoffensive and unremarkable in every way, but not bad in any way.

With the kids all grown, it seems like a Vaudeville show where they shout out lines that they've said a thousand times before. We still watch it, but it doesn't hold up to the reruns on USA.

I have the same problem with Big Bang as I had with Clerks II - once you advance the characters ages in their timelines they become much less sympathetic, and that's hurt later seasons for me.

A young professional Leonard fawning over the 23 year old aspiring actress/waitress/hot chick across the hall is fine. Mid career Leonard (who is depicted by then as being able to attract a string of attractive, successful, women) still fawning over the 30 year old failed-actress-still-waitressing woman across the hall? That becomes less believable.

Raj as a character is fairly pathetic as a 20-something, but he's now pushing 40 and that's now going beyond pathetic.
