To be somewhat fair to the experts I don't think they knew Kate was an occcasional smoker. She mentioned somethign about how she does it so infrequently (only at parties, etc) that she didn't even mention it to them. So them and luke had no idea that she smoked here and there

I've shifted my main theory to being, among other things, kate is not luke's type in any way shape or form. She is a pale blonde white girl and all of luke's prior relationships have been with dark people. pastor cal in the first episode even said something like "If luke can find her attracive, they ahve a chance". I think that's a totally shitty thing to do to pair them up, on the HOPE that one MIGHT find the other attracive. That leads me ot believe the experts KNEW she wasn't his type but did it anyway.

With all that said, we can't overlook the fact that luke is a complete horse's arse regardless if she's his type or not. I'm still not ruling out being moderately gay, or only doing this for exposure either.
