Really? Which religion does the Bible say is necessary?
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
I've searched cover to cover, and I can't find a thing in the Bible about Baptists, Presbyterians, Church of Christ, Assembly of God, Catholics, Lutherans, Pentecostals, or any other religion you can name. Religion is completely unnecessary for a deep and abiding faith in God.
The last thing I would want to be is a stumbling block for someone else, but there is simply no basis for a religion of any kind, that I can find. Can you show me?

Catholic is more of a designation than a specific religion. The religion is Christianity, and the church is Catholic, i.e. “universal.” There are over 30,000 denominations that have broken off from Catholicism since the Reformation.

Matthew 16:18
quote:
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Denominations are all different interpretations of the same story. It all depends on which you believe, but Christ absolutely intended for us to follow him. I believe we were meant to do so as a community. The Bible was written for the purpose of passing down these stories.
