Ran the gatortail hard this week. When greasing the lower unit I found water coming out with the old grease. I am assuming the seal has busted and needs replacing. Does anyone have any experience w this? Does it need to be brought to the shop?

It's likely the lower seals. You can do the repair at home, get the new seals from gator tail. Depending on how bad the intrusion was, you also may need to replace the lower bearing which isn't hard either.

Probably not. My first grease job had water coming out of the lower unit. 70 hours later no issues. The following grease jobs did not have water issues.
