Oh, and before all my fellow Catholics decide that one who commits suicide is automatically damned in the eyes of the church, you should check your catechism. Not the one I learned in the late 50s and early 60s, the new one.

Nothing in what you posted contradicts what the priest said. In fact, what he purportedly said is in line with it.
