I dunno man. Yeah football programs use players, but there are plenty of players that start a ton of games and are not debilitated at the end of it to the point where they can't pass an NFL physical. Remaining as healthy as possible is primarily a personal responsibility.

And if you are a 17, 18, 19, 20, 21 year-old kid, and you are told by a team M.D. that you are "good to go"? You tell the M.D. he's wrong? Really?

Ridiculous. You assume the university has provided the very best in medical care and you play through the "superficial pain". Either that, or you're on your way out of the program. On a fast track.
