So you believe welding makes one smarter than . . .

See - I didn't say that - I compared a welder (just a random skilled profession that doesn't 'require' a college degree) to a graduate with a degree in something like "gender studies' (another random choice of what I consider waste-of-time-and-money degrees)

Are you implying that a degree in 'gender studies' makes one smarter than a welder?

If your car broke down in the middle of the desert, which would you rather have as a passenger?

If If you wanted to purchase an air-conditioner, which would you ask for recommendations?

If you needed an assistant to help you coach your son's baseball team, which would you ask?

If you wanted to know how long it would take to drive to Alaska, which would you ask?

If you broke your leg falling off a ladder, which would you want to assist you to the hospital?

If you needed to know whether the ground wire was red, green, black, or white which would you ask?

If you wanted to know which pronoun to use when confronted with a rainbow haired person sporting a five-clock shadow and mascara, dressed in a mini-skirt and thigh-high boots, which would you ask.

If you wanted to know exactly how many different combinations of birth facts, parental pressure, mental instabilities, sexual proclivities, surgical process there might be which would you ask?

If you wanted to know how many days it took Michaelangelo to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel which would you ask?

etc

'smartness' is not only knowledge of facts, but in understanding how those facts can be applied effectively to the world as it exists.

What I'm saying is if you took the same person and then one timeline had them go learn to be a welder and then another timeline had them go through over a hundred and twenty College curriculum hours of Base courses all the way through General women's studies, that I would think the ladder would have learned much more about how to think and the world around them. The welder version of this person would be very smart about a limited scope of things in comparison.

And you learn how to do both in college. Someone majoring in general women's studies doesn't take that many classes pertaining to that particular subject.
