If you bought a regular spring/piston type air rifle, it will destroy your scope. I'm assuming the Nikon you put on it isn't an air rifle scope when I say that.

But, to the OP, I was also going to mention Ruger for your price range. I have one of the Ruger Blackhawks in .177. I've killed dozens of yard squirrels with it. I think they make a .22 version.

No it is not an air rifle scope but as it formally lived on a .300 WHBY I can not see how the air rifle is going to harm it.

Perhaps I am wrong but someone is going to have to explain that one to me.
