The second one is pretty solid IMO, it's just not nearly as good as the first (which isn't a fair comparison really, as it's one of the better fantasy books of the last 20 years to me). The third book of the trilogy is pretty meh though.
However, the follow up duology to the trilogy is really quite good, which makes finishing the trilogy worthwhile just to read those two books to me.
