re: What sights,landmarks or buildings left you in awe

Notre Dame, but especially the interior. Pictures just can't do it justice.


The Eiffel Tower, particularly at sunset from Trocadéro. When you get off the metro and turn the corner and it just hits you... then the sun goes down and you see it sparkle for the first time... it makes your heart leap.


Rows and rows of white crosses and stars of David at the Normandy American Cemetery. Far too many with this inscription.


A wall of rock and coral that steeply stretches from a mere 60 feet below the surface to thousands of feet below. It feels like you're floating along the edge of the world when you're down there looking out into the deep, dark blue abyss.

Honorable mentions for me would be Lake Como, the Duomo in Milan, the fountains in the garden at Versailles (when turned on), the view from the Empire State Building, and the picos de Europa mountains in Spain.
