Treitlers meat market in Picayune

Discovered today that Treitlers in Picayune has closed. Who has the best hog heads cheese around New Orleans? I like Bourgeois turkey cheese but not hogs head. Suggestions?

I know you might laugh, but I recently picked up some of the Richards stuff available at the store cause I had a crave for some and it was pretty good actually, for being at the store and $4

I remember going to Arabi to pick up HH cheese with my parents from Pomes ...Mr. Ray Pomes...he had the best in N.O.
He later partnered with Mr Herbie(Treitler)and after Mr Ray's passing it was just called Treitler's...at least that's how I remember it.

Same here. I know last year he was sick right around the holidays. This year the sign said retired.

Just down the road try Armond’s in Slidell on Old Spanish Trail. I love their head cheese

I hear Nick's Meat market, one exit from where Treitler was has good HH cheese. He has a few different kinds too

Brotha’s Smoked Jerky and Hogshead Cheese
They show up at local farmer’s markets. It’s the best I’ve had since Treitler’s.
