Anyone have any recommendations? Say 30 people or so for a Christmas party

That could be tough if you plan on paying for any alcohol. I did 32 at Hungrys last year, offering only beer and wine. And gor out at $2755.
Did reef the year before, 30 people with a full bar, for $4514.
Cavatore this year, 35 people at $45/head, with only beer and house wines. And hoping to keep it under $2500.
I can look for the list of the other venues I called, but hungrys and cavatore had lower costs than the others. Backstreet cafe, state of grace, grotto, etc...
Eta: found it. State of Grace is $4500 minimum. Backstreet cafe is $2000 minimum. Caracol wasn't available. Original Carrabas is $3500 minimum. Eddie V's is $4000 minimum. Potente is $4000 minimum. Saint Arnold's had a really cool facility for about 30, but you can only serve their beer and food is limited. I think it was pretty affordable though.

I’d see what the Armadillo palace would charge you

Alcohol will drive up the bill for sure, but you can control that somewhat with what you offer.
Look into Hotel Granduca in uptown or The Houston Club downtown (they allow non members to host events)

We’ve done the back room of grace’s and I think it was a $2000 minimum.

Wakefield Crowbar in Garden Oaks just redid their back room. Really nice and I think they rent it out. I would contact them.

Clean your janky arse house and throw it yo self. You’ll save a grand or two
I’m having a party for employees and we are having it at our house and I own a restaurant.
You get a Borat “hi five”
