I address this point in my thread.

They wanted to Manufacture Drama. Thus, they ignored the rule.

Little did they know they would get a 7OT game out of it, but that's what they got. Also gave the refs additional chances to help aTm, which they did gladly in OT several times.

The SEC won big here.
