quote:aside from the usual youth nostalgia everybody has, I possess virtually no nostalgia for malls themselves
Sad to see malls disappear imo
Pretty iconic aspect of Americana
I'd much rather see Sears survive -- THAT is Americana

The parish should buy it and convert it into the new prison they have been dreaming of since Kip was first elected. Central location and plenty of parking that could be converted into yard space
The bail bondsmen could scoop up all the vacant retail frontage on Florida

Yeah, I have childhood nostalgia for malls but look how many people shop locally now. Growing up, I had never really been into boutiques because those were $100+ items of clothing for well off people. Now, pretty much every female my age buys their clothes at Blink, Bella Bella, Posh, etc. where their non-sale prices rarely exceed $60 and their sales are as cheap as low end mall stores.
I stopped in a local gift shop yesterday to grab a hostess gift on my way to a party and the parking lot was entirely full. The place was lively and the lady who owns it was walking around helping shoppers. That’s awesome to see at local businesses.
