I get coaches but who would elevate LSU as athletic director?

Scott Woodward should be the first call.

Ed Orgeron
Edit: that’s a joke

Scott Woodward is from Baton Rouge and is a LSU alum.
Who knows how attainable he is.
Woodward is your first call, Herb Vincent is right after. Herb is a superstar in the making.

Interesting question. Most fans, including myself, really have little to no insight into what the AD does and how well he does it. My perception is that Alleva has kept the LSU athletic department in decent financial condition. He has managed to retain a very good baseball coach. He hired an up and coming basketball coach who has that program moving in the right direction. On the other hand, Joe "I am the Search" Alleva exhibited poor executive skills in two botched football coaching searches.
He is a poor communicator. He comes across as defensive. He is paid a lot of money to be, in essence, a business executive, and exhibited incredibly poor communication/coordination skills during the first botched coaching hire. (Should have spoken to the school president; should have known the political climate would not support paying Miles' buyout and also pay Fisher $7 to $8M; should not have strung Miles along. Horrible.)
Then, he fires Miles early, supposedly conducts a search, and winds up promoting the defensive line coach.
And here we are. Orgeron has done OK. I support the team so I support him. But Alleva has (in my perception) done more bad than good as AD. I think LSU can do better. Again, he may be a wizard with the books and is doing yeoman's work in keeping the athletic dept. in the black.
