I think the point is that you are within a reasonable drive to all of these features, not that you can load up the car and get to the beach in an hour.
For instance, you are about 4.5 hrs from Jekyll Island and Saint Simon's. Maybe 3.5 hrs to Hilton Head. 5.5 hrs to either Myrtle Beach or Panama City. These are all reasonable drives if you want to leave early Friday afternoon and spend a weekend.
