Our WRS are most at fault for dropping passes, more so than blocking. OL is makeshift due to injuries, not having true tackles who can pass protect and our best OL out for the year. Saying we don't have SEC RB is harsh. CEH and Brossette have done well considering their circumstances. They are not Guice or LF7. But they are not trash or chopped liver. RBs have out done expectations.
The reason we cannot run short pass plays effectively is because our WR's whiff on every single block attempt. This is why our screens fail. This is why the short crosses and pick plays aren't working, or bubble screens, or passes out of the backfield. It is KILLING our offense because this means we are running plays that are taking longer to develop, and wasting plays trying to run them.
This in turn puts more pressure on the OL. Our RB's are ok, but they are not SEC leading backs and are nothing like we've had at LSU for the last 20 years. This puts pressure on areas as well.
If we had one strength on offense, it would change everything, and we'd be able to rely on that somewhat to keep everything honest. But all areas are below average. Makes it tough.
