We had 2 cats and 1 dog. 1 cat recently died of cancer. The dog us SUPER needy and the cats just really did their own thing and they never bothered anybody much. They kept mice out of the house and barn. I didn't have to walk them or take them to the park. I could leave them at home for 2 or 3 days with an automatic water thing and auto food container. They can sustain themselves for a long time alone. Dogs have to be boarded because they will inevitably get into something or frick something up. I like both of them but I like my border collie more.
