3. Use your health insurance to pay for the medical bills and don't make a claim for pain and suffering, and the hit won't be so bad.

UM is a no fault claim so it should not count against your underwriting but who knows, I'm sure they would find a way to hold it against you.

It doesn't work that way. The auto insurance policy would be the primary coverage. After the coverage is exhausted, the health insurance would pay...subject to limits, deductibles and exclusions.
