Sheetrock and mud are white.
Most primer is white.
Most trim paint is white.
More paint is lighter than darker.
Add all this up and anything you get on your clothes blends in better with white.
I wear some old white or light grey when I paint around the house and when I get paint on my clothes it doesn't show up that much.
I painted in an old brown Firestone shirt once and I got a couple of white splotches on it. They stick out like a sore thumb. Looks terrible.
