St Francisville is cool, but not retirement material location. And it's poorer than you might imagine. It's a place to visit, not necessarily retire to. The hospital there is more of a clinic. So good luck with emergency medical care.

I know you said NOT Mandeville or Covington, but that's probably really the best choices. Yeah, you'll likely have to evacuate if/when another hurricane comes along (not in Covington probably), but just how often would that actually happen? And you're close to good/decent healthcare (it's not the Houston medical corridor for sure) and social activities of which there are lots and decent food/restaurants. There's not many safer areas in the entire country, not just Louisiana, than Mandeville. And if you travel, you have three airports from which to choose.

Couldn’t have said it better. There’s only two places that are worth considering imo. That’s north shore and the Lafayette area.


Lake Charles isn’t bad either if you’ve got money to live near the Lake
