I appreciate it Catahoula, Jack Ruby, and Red Beer. It really was more of a pretty gun for the collection anyway (its not that old and just a Japanese) but I have been thinking if it doesnt shoot steel well that it would be a fun gun to deer hunt with. Thanks again for the input on it.

Another option is to get the barrel threaded. I love the old A5s and have quite a few in my collection. I sent my 12mag barrel off to get threaded and get the cones lengthened. Best shooting gun I own now. I love it. And I disagree with the poster who says they kick. Set the rings up correctly and it shoots so smooth. Looks up Art’s gun and get a rebuild kit and have a brand new gun that lasts a lifetime.
