LSU has a highly conservative mindset.
You can win by playing it safe. Run, play defense, win field position...
QB’s are told not to mistakes: don’t throw into coverage; don’t throw into zone; don’t make mistakes; don’t throw interceptions...
When you’re coached safe all year, it’s hard to suddenly cut it loose and throw into tiny windows you get from ‘Bama / elite defensive teams.
Any team that can run zone apparently causes issues, actually.

Especially in the red zone. There's a reason why LSU has just as many field goals as they do touchdowns when they get inside the 20. 0 rather keep it safe, run the ball, and kick the field goal rather than score tds.
