One of if the things Dave Ramsey says. Pay cash and use a card for true emergencies only.
I don’t agree with everything Dave says but the budgeting and cash only advice is great. And Don’t get fooled by card rewards programs.

I think that’s sound advice for lower income families. But for middle class, I’ve had a few thousand dollars of free car, flights, and hotels off rewards cards. I also pay everything in full every month. Balance that is not statement. I like seeing 0.00 owed.

Fooled by what? My last three vacations were primarily paid for by CC reward programs and I usually at least have a balance of about $1,000 in points or cashback at any given time. I pay for everything on whatever card will give me the most benefit and then pay off my cards almost every day so in that way it actually acts like a debit card.
