Only reason?

I played and all my kids played. It is much more fun to play than baseball because it is active.

I understand people don't like it as a spectator sport because of the scoring. But like most things, the more educated one becomes the more noticeable the subtleties make it enjoyable.

And I know your post is just a bit of a troll.

There is a small percentage of people who watch/follow to be trendy. Also like everything else.
