I Second Poverty Point. I live here and ducks are coming in. There are pelicans, cormorants all kinds of bird life, egrets, herons, etc. best thing is the eagles we see pretty often. Saturday one made s slow turn over the water behind my house about 40 yards and landed in a tree out in the water. Ospreys are here too.
There is a nature trail.
Poverty Point site is within 20 minutes. It’s a World Heritage site where there was once a prehistoric city. Highlights include a museum, Large earth works and the huge mound. You can walk it and/or take the little train ride.
