Due to the timing of justices dying/retiring, we HAD to have the last election. Absolutely had to have it.

THIS /\ was the most exigent circumstance in my 60 years of voting. It was the driving force behind my antipathy for Trump during the primary because I thought he had no chance of beating HRC - in fact i thought he was the only one who HRC could beat. I recognized that 3 more left wing SCOTUS appointments would doom the nation regardless of how the succeeding elections turned out.

I have never been so proud of being wrong in my life - Trump has exceeded every expectation I have had for any POTUS I have ever supported - except for the persona part. I still would not want him as my neighbor, my sone in law, or a relative. I really dislike the man.

But I would crawl naked thru a field of broken glass to stop a bullet for him as long as he is POTUS.

I think this is how most of us feel. I don't idolize politicians. And I certainly don't judge them based on their non-consequential personal life.

The Progressive Left spent 8 years idolizing Obama as some sort of role model and beacon of hope and truth to the entire world, which is insane. The guy never worked a real job in his life and went from community organizer to career politicians mainly because of the color of his skin and lack of moral compass. Why should anyone hope their kids turn out like that?

The right tends not to idolize their politicians in general. I don't know anyone who thinks either of the Bushes or Trump are some kind of excellent role models or pillars of humanity. But I know plenty of people on the left who think exactly that about Clinton and Obama.
