Moving on...Can we talk about how stout the defense was?

This Miss State team plowed through Aubby’s front 7. The 2nd drive of the game had me worried for a second but that’s just how Aranda rolls. He wants to see exactly how the offense wants to play and makes adjustments as the game goes on. That’s why he’s the best in the business.
We had a lot of guys step up and make some great plays, including Neal Ferrell, Jacoby had a great tackle in space on Fitz, Shelvin looked good in the few snaps he played (hope he can get in shape, dude is a monster), Fulton made some good tackles, Divinity is starting to turn in to a player, and overall the front 7 looked like a different animal than what we saw vs Florida and other times this season. Of course, our backs balled out as usual.
Despite the DW call, this defense has to be feeling good going in to the Bama game. Of course we wanted more touchdowns in the redzone... but Miss St is a team you survive, not throttle. Simmons and Sweat are going to make a lot of money on Sundays.

Our line did good considering no Fehoko.

Divinity had a monster game and of course Delpit balled out. Fitzgerald wanted no part of throwing at the corners. Fitzgerald got popped in the 2nd quarter and after half he looked very reluctant to run. Bad play calling for them, bad adjustments, zero execution. 260 yards but they were completely shut down after that 42yard run

I'll give the defense kudos overall, but I'm not happy seeing Fitz run for 131. He did the same thing last year and we knew that was really the only threat.

Dude if you take away the 40 yard run on a busted play when no one was in the middle of the defense, he has 91 yards on 22 carries . I’ll take that .

I was most impressed with basically shutting them down with 5 guys in the box. Adding guys late was almost like a blitz that didnt go past the LOS
