Yeah, the government will give them money, food stamps, a phone, housing help, Medicaid. Those programs should be enough to keep the bulk of the homeless off the streets. There has been an explosion of street people in recent years, and I just can’t believe it’s all a result of closing the mental health facilities. Opioid abuse is probably the main factor.

Here in Seattle, the problem only gets worse as they throw more and more money at it. It's almost as if making it easier to be homeless encourages more homelessness.

I would think drug addiction just in general is a bigger factor than mental illness.
